We’ve shared our homes with 10 dogs, 4 cats and an albino mouse named Charlie over the years. Our most recent pets, Oscar, Radar and Misty, were with us from the time they were young until the ends of their lives. This gave us extensive experience with energetic puppies and kittens as well as older pets.
We’ve had the pleasure of caring for 28 dogs, 25 cats, chickens and numerous fish around the world. As homebodies, we love spending evenings playing and cuddling with furry companions. We’re in heaven when we can spend time with other people’s pets.
A retired cybersecurity professional, Karen dedicated her career to helping people stay safe online. In her spare time Karen served on the Arts Board of the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, helped low-income families with tax issues and tutored underserved youth. In addition, Karen assisted retired and disabled clients with personal financial management through work as a Daily Money Manager.
The most fun Karen had volunteering was the 4 years she spent as a diver at the Newport Aquarium, feeding and observing the animals, interacting with patrons, and cleaning the big tanks. This included weekly dives in tanks full of rays, eels and huge sharks. Yikes!
Now Karen works part time for TrustedHousesitters. She moderates their community forum, where pet sitters and owners from around the world discuss all things pet sitting, travel and other things that make life great.
Karen is Pet First Aid & CPR certified.
Part of the year Garrett works as a tour director, helping both young and old explore the USA.
When he’s is not on tour, Garrett joins Karen in pet sitting and exploring the world.
A former executive with Fidelity Investments, Garrett served 2 years as President of the Board of 4 Paws for Ability, a US non-profit that provides service dogs to disabled children around the world. Garrett also spent 4 years as Treasurer of the San Francisco Tour Guide Guild.
